God

Life without order is chaos. When we have multiple things coming at us that want our attention, we make a decision about what gets our attention first and what keeps a majority of our attention. What is your order of operations?

This entire life is about reconnecting with God and helping others to get back to Him also. It is that simple and that complex. Sometimes we have the most valuable gift, but we don’t appreciate it!

I often find myself with one foot in one world and one foot in another. Those situations used to make me confused and uncomfortable. I used to think that I needed to choose between one or the other. At times I have been a chameleon, with one party not even knowing that I belong to the other party or associate with the other party. Now I realize that I am supposed to be a bridge between both. Many of us find ourselves in two worlds. If we maintain our personhood, share and grow, we can help both parties. Our human experience is not for us to conform but to build bridges and to grow together.

My internal balance came from redefining my priorities. My hierarchy is, “God, Me, Family, Work”. Having those 4 areas of commitment out of order caused a state of dis-ease in my life. Your Spiritual, Mental and Physical health depends on your priorities being in order.

Having God first means that He is at the center of our thoughts, actions and decisions. We struggle with putting God first because we have let humans tell us what God requires of us and how we should serve Him. We think that we have to present ourselves as perfect beings, that we have to have everything figured out in order to be with Him, when the opposite is true. We go to Him because we do not have everything figured out.

I LOVE being in church. To be with my church family, to hear God’s word, to sing praises, to make and execute the plan of how we will help others. The right church puts you in alignment with God’s purpose.

Some of my most impactful service to God has been outside of a church building.

According to Matthew, what is required is that we love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind and that we love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Every time a situation makes you uncomfortable in your Sprit, it is either to cause us to pause and/or an opportunity for growth. If your actions are continuously moving towards being in tune with His Spirit within you, you have put God first.
