February is so meaningful to me. It is the month that we celebrate Black History. It is the month of my birth. I happen to be born on Valentine's Day. It is American Heart month. I have a question for you, how are your hearts? Heart disease is the leading cause of death in The United States. Black women have the highest rate of Coronary Heart Disease. But my concern is not only for your physical heart, but also your emotional heart. Are there things that you have been holding on to that are affecting your hearts. Women are known for taking care of everything and everyone, before taking care of themselves. Our emotional heart affects our physical heart. Stress and anxiety have a strong impact on our hearts and overall health. Take some time this month to check in with yourself and think about how not only your physical heart is doing but how your emotional heart is doing . Practice some self love. Make at least one positive change. Check on someone. Even if you think someone "has it all together". You never know what someone could be going through and your voice might be just the medicine they need. Let's help each other take care of our hearts.
