The first of the four components of happiness is Peace In Your Mind.
Peace in your mind means that as life ebbs and flows, you have a center
within yourself, that is your home, that according to Dr. Maya Angelou,
is where you and God reside. Life throws curve balls sometimes but you
find your way back to that place within yourself that is your place of
balance and calm. The majority of social media will lead you to believe
that happiness is achieved outside of yourself. If you do not have peace
in your mind, no amount of money, success or fame will bring you true
happiness. Traumas not addressed, especially from childhood weigh on
us and make us more susceptible to additional trauma, especially abuse
because we are used to boundaries not being honored. Unaddressed
mental health needs make it impossible to have peace in your mind.
This also snowballs until it affects our physical health. Loss not
addressed can lead to us being overwhelmed, depressed and eat away
at our peace. It could be the loss of a relationship, loss of a person in
death, loss of a dream, any loss. All loss has a mourning period. If we
are not gradually coming out of that mourning period, we get stuck and
mourn that loss over and over again. All of these can eat away at our
peace and we might need professional help to get our balance back.
Issues not addressed pass down from generation to generation. Passing
down generational wealth is more than financial. How about we work
on passing down generational happiness.
Peace in your mind is integral to that happiness.
