Sweet Lemonade #1

I declare this decade, my decade of Sweet Lemonade. Life gives us lemons sometimes and lemons can change our life trajectory. Some people say that when life gives you lemons you should make lemonade but lemonade can be sour or sweet. I choose to make Sweet Lemonade. My greatest lessons in life have come from those lemons and I am not going to let them make me sour. The first 10 years of my life were ROUGH. I lost one father and gained one father. I left the country of my birth and moved 7 times. I was introduced to a different culture and society. I went from being with my mother most of the time to having limited access to her because she had to work several jobs after we transitioned to the U.S. My first Sweet Lemonade is that through ALL of that, right beside me, were my sisters. I come from a very close and loving family. I had my grandmothers, my aunts, my uncles and my cousins ;but, most of all, my sisters. Our Triad was created in the fire. People amaze at how close we are. We didn't have a choice. It was often just the three of us. Special recognition to my oldest sister who was 16 when we migrated. She held the household together. Grocery shopping, cooking, she combed my hair and did homework with me. We are each other's sounding board and pull up palls. Some of the hardest things that we have faced in life have made us resilient and strong. What is your Sweet Lemonade?
